Number lines can represent many types of values.

Sometimes the numbers under the tick marks are left out. It's always possible to figure out the values of each tick mark by looking at the other tick marks and dividing the space evenly.

The spaces in between tick marks also represent values. In the case, the point exactly halfway between 2 and 3 represents 2.5 or 2
